Thursday, August 30, 2012. I set out solo to hike Allen mountain along the East River Trail from Upper Works. Fortunately when I reached the river the water was low and I was able to rock-hop accross. A cool early morning on the Hudson. Early Morning on Lake Jimmy. Steep section of the slide.
We meandered across the ridge, stopping to take in the views and headed to the rock on the southwest side of the summit. Those girls had had quite an eventful weekend and were heading to the Lake Placid Pub and Brewery, and I had the long slog home. The Truck Trail was pleasant but had more uphills and inclines that I remembered. About halfway down the rain fin.

Sunday, June 3, 2012. Gray and Skylight with a Marcy Kicker. The new view from Marcy Dam. The trail heading down towards the Feldspar lean-to was wet as usual. The bridge over the Opalescent River was missing and the trail rerouted to a rock hop crossing. Lots of trail work and new boardwalks installed in the swamp. Nice job! Lake Tear of the Clouds. And had the summit to ourselves. After a quick snack, we slid down the herdpath and hiked on over to Four Corners.
